About The Event
O’Dowd’s musical career has seen him progress from his first radio broadcast at ten years of age, on up through the ranks of various strands of the Sligo traditional Irish, blues, folk and rock scenes to being an extensively travelled, experienced and much sought after musician, singer and producer. Irish Folk Music Award nominee in 2018 in the category of Folk Instrumentalist of the Year.
His live music trajectory has brought him through his local pub scene in Sligo onto the pubs and theatres of Germany, the European, Canadian, New Zealand and Australian folk festival circuits, prestigious concert halls worldwide from Dublin’s National Concert Hall to New York’s Symphony Space Centre to The Sydney Opera House, and more than a few of the bigger rock music festivals from the legendary Finsbury Fleadh in London to the massive Rock In Rio festival in Brazil.
He has played and recorded with musicians such as Mairtin O’Connor, Cathal Hayden, Jimmy Higgins, Dervish, The Unwanted, Tommy Emmanuel, Kieran Ouinn, Steve Wickham,Christy Moore, and Liam O’Flynn, to name but a few.
Seamie’s solo performances have been described as being able to rival any band, such is the power and scope of his musical delivery.
He has also released two solo albums, both of which have received critical acclaim. The first, “Headful Of Echoes” is a folk/ blues based album of songs while the second, “Wood and Iron” is a guitar based album of traditional Irish tunes.
These albums will feature strongly in his solo performance, as will material from other albums he has been involved in, and a few things he’s working on for the future will be sneak-previewed as well!
